Who we are
Eco Vision Institut e.V. (EVI) is a small-by-design, independent, non-profit research and solutions institute based in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany. Our purpose, set out in our statutes, is to contribute — through research and practical solutions, especially in climate change adaptation and energy transition — to a climate-resilient and nature-friendly future society.

An independent, trusted platform where Chinese and European practitioners meet as equals to accelerate the climate, nature and just-transition agenda together.
Why we were founded — a bridge, not a border
We did not start Eco Vision because the world lacks research on climate change. We started it because of a gap we kept noticing — a gap between knowledge and action, and between regions that hold complementary strengths. Europe, and Germany in particular, has deep experience in energy transition, adaptation planning and the patient, collaborative culture of its civic and scientific institutions. China and the wider Asia-Pacific are scaling solutions at a speed and scale the world has rarely seen. Too often these two worlds talk past each other; we exist to deepen mutual understanding and rebuild durable, person-to-person cooperation.

How we work
We are deliberately small and independent. We are governed by a voluntary council, sustained by membership and charitable contributions, and accountable under German non-profit law. Independence is not a slogan for us; it is the condition that lets us speak plainly and work with anyone committed to the same goals.

EVI was founded by researchers from the Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS, Beijing) and Greenovation Hub (Beijing), and works with a growing network across China and Europe — including Germanwatch and the Sino-German Association for Science and Technology. We are here to work with anyone committed to the same goals, putting partnership over rivalry and listening before advocating.
